SULLYMATTY.COM – WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
MattMy name is Matt Sullivan. I created this site to introduce myself and promote my services in the Metro Detroit area while I continue seeking more permanent employment opportunities.

I'm a web developer experienced in corporate communications with an automotive design background. I've provided samples of intranet and freelance sites I've designed, developed, and maintained over the last ten years of my career.

Currently I'm developing CSS based freelance sites while I update my web design skills. Recently completed my Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 class, and enrolled in the new Flash CS5 class for this semester.
 HOW DID I GET HERE?
I've worn many different hats at work (often at the same) time including Web Developer, Graphic Designer, Automotive Designer, Peer Mentor, and Project Manager.

What's the common thread? They all revolve around communicating ideas and information effectively while taking the initiative to create a path to success for myself.

Mac PlusBegan using computers as a junior at the Frankfurt Int. High School in Germany on a Radio Shack TRS80.

Started my 7 years at EDS with a Macintosh Plus while PCs still had green text on black screens, and no windows interface. Hmmm, I wonder where Mr. Gates got that idea?

My web design career began at GM with a UNIX workstation and a text editor. Later, after accepting a CAD Designer position creating vehicle parts in Unigraphics, my web responsibilities continued to expand dramatically. After four years I was promoted to Lead Architect for all Engineering Design web developers at the GM Tech Center.

I've been teaching other users informally since my earliest computer days. Then it became formal with a promotion into the Mentor role. I trained web & automotive designers, engineers, and executives in site design, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Vis Mockup, Teamcenter and other applications.
 WHAT'S NEXT?
Started as a Computer Science major, but finished with a BAA in Broadcasting that didn't prepare me for the technical aspects of my career. Always have been torn between my technical and artistic sides. I've come to realize that my true nature resides somewhere near the middle.

While very few individuals are masters of both (myself included), I'm proficient in both worlds, transition well between them, and often translate for those who do not.

Facilitating internally oriented business communications through the web has provided
a great foundation for my career. Grand CanyonI enjoy the process of connecting the audience with the message.

Now I'd like to transition to the commercial side of web design and engage the outside world.

Please take a few minutes to check out my other pages, and thanks for stopping by.
